For those fawning after Tom Brady, it’s hard to see the 2020 New England Patriots enjoying significantly more success this season.
Cam Newton had a brutal season — but Brady wasn’t that much better in 2019, particularly in the second half of the season. And it’s easy to argue New England’s offense was worse this year than last year. So Brady might have looked worse, too. Could Brady have gotten two more wins for the Patriots? Probably. But that doesn’t put the Patriots in playoff contention. They’re still probably missing the postseason, even with Brady. So we’re not so sure New England made the wrong call moving on from the greatest of all time — as crazy as that sounds — and, of course, he’s had a lot more success in Tampa, which has proven to be the perfect landing spot for him to finish his his career.
