Science Weekly comes at you this week from the annual British Association Festival of Science in Liverpool. James Randerson and the team sample the pick of the festival including the psychology of terrorists, false memories and Lord Robert Winston having a pop at Richard Dawkins and his "Science Delusion".

Have no fear, though, our intrepid reporter Ian Sample was in Geneva for the biggest science story of the week (and possibly the decade) – first beam at Cern's Large Hadron Collider. Despite the doomsayers' predictions the world didn't end – well it was never going to was it – and Ian gives us a flavour of the big day.
