Pocso case against Fort Kochi hotelier

KOCHI: Over three months since two models met with a tragic accident in the city after allegedly being followed by a youth who attended a party that they went to, police have registered a separate case against two accused in the case for sexually harassing a minor girl and her mother.

According to senior officials with the city police, a case has been registered against Roy J Vayalat, owner of No. 18 hotel at Fort Kochi, and Syju Thankachan by invoking relevant sections of the Pocso Act and IPC.

"We have booked both Roy and Syju as per the statements of a mother and daughter hailing from North Kerala that the accused abused them in October last year. Their allegation is that they came to Kochi for a job. They were then called to this hotel. A lady had taken them there. As per the statement, the accused even misbehaved with the child. We conducted a preliminary inquiry after receiving the complaint and then registered a case invoking both the Pocso Act and the IPC," said an officer. tnn
