Prime Minister Scott Morrison has returned to Canberra for 14 days of restrictions after being granted an exemption to travel from Sydney.
Under health protocols, Mr Morrison will be required to restrict his movements to The Lodge and specific areas within Parliament House including his office and cabinet rooms.
He will also undertake daily COVID-19 tests and be required to wear a mask.
A spokesman said the rules were consistent with those approved for essential workers with exemptions in the ACT.
Mr Morrison previously flagged he wanted to attend the August parliament session in person, having missed the last sittings due to his trip to the G7 leaders' summit in the UK.
Parliamentary sittings resume on August 3.
