Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has dismissed speculation that Tuesday's National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) meeting was its last.
His statement followed media reports that the prime minister, who is also the head of NCPO, would make Tuesday's meeting the final one with the general election to take place March 24.
"Have all the problems in this country been solved?" Gen Prayut asked.
Under the constitution, the NCPO is required to relinquish its authority and disband once the new government has been sworn in.
"Problems need to be addressed. We can't afford to wait five to six months for the new government, can we?" the prime minister said.
The meeting on Tuesday was the second in five months since new military officers were appointed to senior positions in its ranks.
Army chief Apirat Kongsompong attended for the first time since he took up his post.
