PM Narendra Modi praises Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar’s ‘efficient working style’

CHANDIGARH: Putting an end to all speculations about the possibility of any change in the leadership in Haryana by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) high command, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday not only showered praises on chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar for his “efficient working style”, but also said his style has been adopted by the Centre.

While praising Khattar’s “leadership ability,” the PM also said he has known Khattar for a long time, but after becoming the CM he has outshone himself.

“If we evaluate the development of Haryana, then we can see that the state has got the best and most constructive government of the last five decades. The way the Haryana government is doing innovative work under his (Khattar’s) leadership, that style of work is also adopted by the central government and today Haryana has become a source of inspiration for other states,” said the PM.

The PM was addressing a programme organised on the occasion of the inauguration of the newly constructed Infosys Foundation Vishram Sadan at the National Cancer Institute located in the Badsa area of Jhajjar district today through video conferencing.

The word of praise for Khattar from none other than the PM has been seen as a big booster for Khattar, as there were speculations that the BJP leadership may also change the political leadership like what it has recently done in Gujarat and Uttarakhand. These speculations had assumed more significance in view of the strong anger and protest against Khattar in the state.

In the last one year, Khattar has not been able to attend events in his own constituency. Khattar has also triggered controversies in the recent past with his controversial statements. Recently, he was seen asking the BJP’s Kisan Morcha (farmers’ cell) workers to raise groups of kisan volunteers and pick sticks. His reference was regarding those protesting against the Centre’s three farm laws. However, he had to withdraw his statement after it triggered debate in the social media and state’s politics. Even the unemployment rate in the state is alarmingly high, providing ammunition to the opposition targeting him for his alleged failure in providing employment opportunities in the state.

However, endorsement by the PM is a clear indication that there is no immediate threat to him as CM.
