Prime Minister Scott Morrison has reshuffled the leadership of three key public service departments after receiving Governor-General David Hurley's blessing.
The federal government has announced the appointment of new secretaries to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Department of Social Services and Attorney-General's Department.
Australia's first female major general Kathryn Campbell will take over from retiring DFAT secretary Frances Adamson on July 22, after leading the social services agency since September 2017.
Ms Campbell will be replaced by Ray Griggs, a former Navy chief and Defence Force vice chief who has led the National Indigenous Australians Agency as its inaugural chief executive officer since July 2019.
Vacant for 18 months, the secretary position of the attorney-general's department will finally be filled by Katherine Jones. She is currently associate secretary of the defence department and will start in her new role on August 16.
All three newly appointed secretaries will serve a five-year term and Mr Morrison congratulated each of them.
"I have every confidence that they will lead by example and ensure the Australian public service continues to play an integral role in our nation's COVID-19 recovery and provide high-quality services to all Australians," he said in a statement.
