
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has praised the national women's team for bringing happiness to the Thai people by qualifying for the World Cup.
The team met Gen Prayut at Government House yesterday after finishing fourth at the AFC Women's Asian Cup in Jordan earlier this month and securing a place in the 2019 Fifa Women's World Cup.
The visitors were led by coach Nuengrutai Srathongvian and manager Nualphan Lamsam.
"It's an honour to meet the prime minister,'' Nualphan told reporters after the meeting.
"The prime minister told us to do our best in every competition. He praised us for our dedication and determination. He also said the government is ready to give support to all sports. I believe that this meeting will boost our morale."
The women's team made their World Cup debut at the 2015 finals in Canada where they suffered to 4-0 losses to Germany and Norway but sealed a 3-2 win over Ivory Coast.
