Australian defence forces have conducted the last repatriation flight from the Middle East following the fall of Afghanistan.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Scott Morrison confirmed the last ADF flight carrying evacuated Australians and Afghanis had landed in Darwin, marking an end to the military operation which began last month following the Taliban's takeover.
Mr Morrison said the flight from Al Minhad Base in the United Arab Emirates means the total number of evacuated from Afghanistan is 3500.
The federal government had flagged 4100 Australian citizens, permanent residents and valid visa holders were eligible for the airlifts at Harmid Karzai Airport during the evacuations.
Mr Morrison said operations will now move to the next phase which will be the humanitarian program and resettling people in Australia.
"I said to you here that we would now move into the next phase of our program, our humanitarian program, to bring people to Australia under that set of measures that we have put in place," Mr Morrison said.
