PM and Brittany Higgins to meet on Friday

Brittany Higgins will meet the prime minister and opposition leader in Sydney. (AAP)

Brittany Higgins will meet with Scott Morrison and Anthony Albanese next week to discuss ways to improve workplace culture in Parliament House.

AAP understands the meetings will be held in Sydney this Friday.

Ms Higgins wanted to meet the prime minister in Canberra but it is understood she was not given a choice.

The former Liberal staffer alleges she was raped by a colleague in a federal minister's office two years ago.

Since she went public with the claim there has been a deluge of allegations of poor behaviour and mistreament of women and a large rally outside Parliament House.

She said last week her decision to meet was not made lightly but she believed things could not be improved unless "people are willing to come together and speak plainly about these difficult issues".

Mr Morrison described the meeting as "important" and said he was looking forward to it.
