The shooter who killed five people during a rampage in Plymouth was a licensed gun holder, the police have confirmed.
In a press conference today, Devon and Cornwall Police chief constable Shaun Sawyer said 22-year-old Jake Davison was responsible for the horrifying six-minute massacre on Thursday evening.
He said a firearm - described by witnesses as a pump action shotgun - was recovered from the scene in Keyham.
Mr Sawyer confirmed Davison was a firearms licence holder and said there was "no motive" for the attack at present and it is not known if the weapon used was the same one he was licensed to use.
He added: "We are not considering terrorism or a relationship with any far-right group."

The chief constable went on to say: "Multiple shots have been fired from a firearm during that six-minute-or-so period.
"There are some 13 scenes and potentially more scenes.
"There are therefore five people of Plymouth who have lost their lives overnight - and Mr Davison himself - including a particularly young child."

Questioned as to how someone with clear mental health issues could be licensed to hold a gun by the force, Mr Sawyer said a review would take place.
He said the victims' identities would be made public at a later time, but confirmed the first victim was a woman who had a familial relationship with the shooter and was shot inside an address.
The chief constable said Davison then entered Biddick Drive where he immediately shot and killed a very young girl, and her male relative.
Further along the road he aimed and shot at two local residents - a man and a woman - who received significant but currently not life-threatening injuries, he continued.
Davison then entered an adjacent parkland and shot a man who died at the scene, before moving to Henderson Place and shooting another woman who died in hospital.

"Eye witnesses told us Mr Davison then turned the gun upon himself, taking his own life," added Mr Sawyer.
Davison's social media accounts show an isolated young man who had an obsession for guns and the US.
He posted workout videos on YouTube from a home gym, as well as concerning vlogs of him ranting about his inability to get a girlfriend.
