Plymouth nursery worker dies after 'tragic accident'

Bosses at a Plymouth nursery have described their heartbreak after “a tragic accident” resulted in the death of a member of staff.

Plymouth Live reported a woman died yesterday (Thursday, July 9) after the emergency services attended the Langage Industrial Park.

The incident is still being investigated but the early indications are that it does not raise any ongoing safety concerns, reports Plymouth Live.

And a nursery spokesperson confirmed no kids were present when the 'accident happened'.

A force spokesman said: “Police were called to an address at the Langage Park Office Campus, on Langage Industrial Park in Plympton, by the ambulance service with a report of concern for the welfare of a woman at around 1.20pm.

“Emergency services attended the scene where the woman was sadly confirmed deceased. Her next of kin have been informed.

“The Health and Safety Executive have also been informed and police enquiries are ongoing.”

Kiddi Caru nursery, where the tragedy took place, has released an emotional statement in which it paid tribute to “a well-loved staff member”.

The nursery said: “In what seems to have been a tragic accident, a member of our staff died today on nursery premises.

“The accident happened in a part of the building where no children were present. No child witnessed the accident or its aftermath.

“The safety and wellbeing of our children and staff is our first priority at all times. The incident is still being investigated but the early indications are that it does not raise any ongoing safety concerns.

“Everybody at the nursery is heartbroken by this terrible event and the loss of a well-loved staff member.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with our colleague and her loved ones.”
