Plymouth editor campaigns to save dockyard

Alan Qualtrough, editor-in-chief of the Plymouth Herald and Western Morning News is not just campaigning in his papers for Devonport dockyard's future. He appeared on regional television to put the case too. With the government holding a review into Britain's naval bases there is concern that Devonport could be "streamlined". It remains a major employer with its nuclear submarine refitting facility, and any cuts would adversely affect the area.
