Plymouth creative agencies' university work shortlisted for awards

Four Plymouth creative agencies have been acknowledged for their work with the city’s universities by being shortlisted for national awards.

The agencies’ work with the University of Plymouth, Plymouth College of Art and Plymouth Marjon University has been shortlisted for the prestigious HEIST Awards 2021.

The University of Plymouth and Plymouth College of Art’s platform IGNITE Futures, designed and built by Just Enough Brave and Altitude Design, is in the running for the Best Student Engagement Campaign or Initiative.

In addition, the Plymouth Marjon University website, which was created by Studiose and Square Apple, has been shortlisted for the Best Higher Education Website of the Year.

The IGNITE Futures platform was designed as a digital response to the cancellation of the IGNITE Festival 2020. The festival, that is underway this month, encompasses the grand showcasing of graduates’ hard work and connects them to potential clients, collaborators and employers.

David Smith, from Just Enough Brave, said: “IGNITE Futures was born at a really uncertain time in graduates’ lives. All in-person events ground to a halt and the job market was looking tougher than ever, especially for creative students.

“We worked with the university and college to design and develop a high impact, pragmatic platform to showcase students and give their work a home for businesses and employers to access their talent.”

He added: “Unlike an in-person event, IGNITE Futures has the power to champion graduates’ work to every local, regional and national employer.”

Miles Noble. from Altitude Design. Said: “Our collaboration captures the spirit of IGNITE Festival in digital format. It’s rewarding that this platform will support the university and college to support and nurture the next wave of local creative talent entering the jobs market.”

It is the second year in which the Plymouth Marjon University website has been shortlisted for the HEIST Awards’ Best Higher Education Website of the Year.

Simon Edwin, from Studiose, said: “It’s great that the university's website has been shortlisted for the HEIST Awards for the second time running. If there’s any industry which can champion innovation, it’s the education industry.”

The HEIST Awards are judged by a panel of the sector experts who will be announcing the winners in an awards ceremony on Thursday, July 15, 2021.
