Plymouth Argyle boss Derek Adams says it is too early to assess how Graham Coughlan is doing at Bristol Rovers

Derek Adams says it is too early to analyse how Graham Coughlan is performing as Bristol Rovers manager.

The Gas make the trip to face Adams' Plymouth side on Saturday in a game that could prove to be a crucial one in the League One relegation battle, with both sides just one place and a solitary point apart, and looking over their shoulders at the bottom four.

Coughlan took over as manager in December and has led the Gas on an impressive run that has seen them climb out of the drop zone, losing just twice in the league in 2019 and building a watertight defence that has gone 395 minutes without conceding.

What Bristol Rovers can expect from Plymouth Argyle - including a vastly changed Home Park

Adam, who has been in charge of the Pilgrims for 206 matches having arrived in 2015 told Plymouth Live: "It’s difficult to assess that because it’s only for a short period of time. You can’t assess that until a longer period of time."

It's the 100th meeting between the two teams but Rovers haven't won at Plymouth in eight meetings since 2000. Adams says his side need to respect the Gas' form.

"It is a home game for us. We are unbeaten at home in the last seven games and scored a good number of goals in that time, and we want to continue that form," he added.

"We understand that Bristol Rovers are on a good run of form away from home and we are respectful of that."
