A plus-size model has blasted trolls who criticised her for wearing an "inappropriate" outfit to Disney World. TikTok star Sam Paige was forced to defend herself after she was slammed online for wearing a shirt and skort to the family theme park. But she stood by her choice, claiming people were only complaining her clothes were inappropriate because of the size of her body.
Trouble arose after the fashionista shared a video of herself enjoying a magical day out to TikTok as @sampaigeeee. In the short clip, Sam can be seen beaming with excitement as she dances in front of the castle in her fun outfit.
She wears a pink top with long sleeves, not dissimilar from Princess Aurora's style, and a skort - a skirt with shorts. Many were shocked by the severe response to her outfit, as she faced a lot of criticism.
In a now-deleted comment, someone said: "Why dress so inappropriate when you're at a theme park for children, that's an outfit you wear at an adult gathering."
Another wrote: "No seriously.....why?" And a different person asked: "Really?" But when Sam responded, many people were quick to support her.
Replying to the first critic in a follow-up video, the model said: "This comment is so annoying because I'm wearing a shirt with sleeves and a skort, a skirt that has shorts attached to it, and you are deeming it inappropriate because it is a skirt, or what you think is a skirt."
She added: "Skinny people wear shorter things, more revealing things, at theme parks. I've seen literal booty cheeks hanging out under shorts but because I'm fat it is inappropriate."
Echoing her claims, one commenter said: "True & they get less hate 4 it whereas curvy women get hated on no matter how we dress."
Another added: "I was just there last week. Seen lots of booth cheeks, and no back tops. You are absolutely beautiful".
"You went to Disney. The park isn’t just for kids. It’s also for adults. Wear what makes you feel good," another TikToker wrote.
Meanwhile, several people also praised Sam's styling choices.
"I was expecting to see u in the ivy bikini or something," read one such reply. "Nothing wrong with ur outfit there. Super cute if u ask me."
"I think you looked so cute and very much appropriate," said a second.
A third added: "Your outfit was gorgeous and if anything your teaching young girls to love their body’s in any outfit!"
