Nine fire engines race to Fife blaze after 'huge explosion' heard

Fire crews have raced to a blaze this morning after "huge explosions" were heard by locals.

The fire broke out at Cupar Trading Estate shortly before 10:30am this morning, just off the A91. It is thought the blaze is located at the steel fabricators within the estate.

Nine fire engines raced to the scene and other specialist resources have been called in to battle the inferno.

The crews are expected to remain at the scene for some time as they try to bring the flames under control.

One eyewitness reported hearing a "huge explosion", while another local reported on social media that they had also heard "two explosions"

.

A huge plume of smoke can be seen for miles, with one Dundee resident even sharing photos of the alarming scene.

It is not yet known if anyone has been injured in the blaze.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 10.23am, Tuesday July 21, to reports of a fire within a building at Cupar Trading Estate, Fife.

“Operations Control has mobilised nine fire appliances, two height vehicles and a number of specialist resources to the scene where firefighters are working to extinguish the flames.

"Crews will remain in attendance for some time.”
