Plume of 'black smoke' seen from Falkirk caused by heap of tyres set on fire

A plume of smoke visible in Falkirk today has been caused by a heap of tyres set on fire.

An eye witness reported on Twitter: "Plumes of black smoke in the direction of Callendar House, Falkirk".

However, it is understood that the smoke is coming from a bing in Redding, in Falkirk, where a number of tyres are being burned.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the "black smoke" is coming from "a quantity of tyres on fire".

One fire appliance is said to be in attendance at the scene.
