The recently founded Charlie Rose site just gets better and better as his tireless researchers unearth some true gems, nearly all of them unseen in this country. This week Charlie, in my view America's most affable and intelligent interviewer, posts up an hour long interview with Peter O'Toole. O'Toole, a brilliantly witty raconteur, here discusses the dyspeptic antics of his gambling father, homosexuality on the British stage, his hatred of the nuns who educated him, and the way that he and Omar Sherif once blew a whole nine months' wages in a Beirut casino in a single night. Throughout the interview Charlie spends so much time giggling he can barely shoehorn a question in. Never has a confirmed hellraiser sounded so charming and engaging.
