'Please leave him at Derby' - Derby County fans react to Frank Lampard Chelsea return rumours

Derby fans have been reacting to reports that their manager Frank Lampard is being targeted by Chelsea to replace Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge in the summer.

The Chelsea legend has had a successful first year in management with the Rams, leading them to the playoff final, where they will face Aston Villa on bank holiday Monday.

Lampard spent the majority of his playing career at Stamford Bridge, scoring 209 goals in 640 appearances for the club. With uncertainty over the future of current Blues manager Maurizio Sarri, reports began to circulate on Monday evening that the club had identified Lampard as the number one target to replace the Italian after the Europa League final.

Sarri has also been linked with the soon to be vacant managerial position at Italian giants Juventus.

Lampard joined Derby in the summer of 2018, much to the excitement of the Rams fans, and has endeared himself to the fans throughout the season, leading the club to a playoff position.

A 4-3 aggregate win over Leeds in the semi-final saw Derby make history to become the first club to go through to the final after having lost the home leg of the tie. They will come up against Aston Villa at Wembley as the two clubs battle it out to return to the Premier League.

The latest reports have got Derby fans worried, especially so close to such a big game, but some insist that it may be too early in their boss' managerial career to make such a big step to his former club, after all Lampard has just one season of managerial experience.
