'Please just cancel' - Edinburgh barber pleads with customers after no shows on opening week

An Edinburgh barbers has taken to Facebook today to voice their frustrations after several customers have not shown up for their appointments.

Hairdressing salons and barbers were allowed to reopen last week on Wednesday 15 July as lockdown restrictions eased further across Scotland.

Sink and Anchor, a barbers shop on West Port in Edinburgh, were one of those businesses excited to reopen their doors after an extended period of closure due to coronavirus.

However, the local business has had issues with customers not showing up for sought after appointments to get a trim - leaving the business and other customers in the lurch.

They wrote on Facebook: "We’ve said it before and looks like we need to say it again, if you can’t come to your appointment that’s cool - things come up, life happens, it’s a strange time and you might feel like you aren’t ready to make the trip to the barbers yet after all but PLEASE, please just let us know or use the online system to cancel it’s THAT easy.

"We have so many people still looking for appointments that the no shows we have had this week could easily have been filled by cancelling."

"Sorry for the negativity that’s not our vibe but it is very frustrating."

One customer responded: " Frustrating, given that I was free a lot of yesterday afternoon and could have popped in! Hopefully there's a good reason, but it's surely common practice to say you're not making it."

The news comes after bosses at Edinburgh bar 56 North pleaded with customers to cancel their bookings if not attending after over 100 slots were missed in just 10 days.

Outdoor beer gardens and eating areas were able to open in Scotland earlier this month, with indoor spaces following shortly after on July 15.
