St John's Care on Constitution Avenue in Reid is gearing up to open its Christmas present room for those in need and is looking for donations.

Last year, 560 families were able to pick a present from the room. It will be open this year from December 10 to 20, from 9.30am to 2pm, on weekdays.
St John's Care has already seen a spike in numbers of people in need coming into the centre to receive food.
This year, St John's Care is working with Uniting Care Kippax and Canberra City Care to make sure it can help as many people as possible during the Christmas season.
St John's Care aims to make up 500 family hampers and 100 hampers for single people.
Suggestions for new toy donations for the present room include Lego, dolls, trucks/cars (Hot Wheels and larger cars), games/puzzles, footballs (AFL, rugby, soccer), cricket sets, basketballs, water play/sport and Barbie dolls.
Gift cards of $20 to $30 from places such as EB Games, Rebel Sport, JB Hi Fi and Target are good for teenagers.
