If you use a PlayStation controller, you might think that you know everything there is to about the popular device.
But PlayStation has shocked gamers this week, after revealing the real name for its ‘X’ button.
While most gamers call this button the ‘ex button’, this isn’t actually the official name, according to the Sony-owned firm.
Taking to Twitter this week, PlayStation explained: “Triangle, Circle, Cross, Square. If Cross is called X (it’s not), then what are you calling Circle?”
Many gamers have taken to Twitter to express their shock at the revelation.
One user said: “This is like when the guy who invented the gif insisted on everyone saying it in a weird way against public concuss. Embarrassing.”
Another added: “If it's a cross then make it look like cross not an x all the other shapes are placed like they should be. It would be like telling us the sky is green when its clearly blue.”
And one joked: “This makes me quite x.”
The news comes amidst a host of rumours about PlayStation's next console, rumoured to be called the PlayStation 5.
Rumours suggest that Sony could launch its next console as soon as February 2020, although as always, Sony is remaining tight-lipped on the device.
