PlayStation FlexStrike Wireless Fight Stick Faces Indefinite Delay, According to Sony

Sad news today for arcade fighting game enthusiasts and fans as Sony and PlayStation shared an update confirming that the FlexStrike wireless fight stick is facing an indefinite delay.

The peripheral was scheduled to launch this August alongside a new arcade-style fighting game from Arc System Works, "MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls."

PlayStation Indefinitely Delays FlexStrike Wireless Fight Stick

Sony has confirmed that its upcoming FlexStrike wireless fight stick has been delayed indefinitely, pushing the accessory's launch past its original date alongside "MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls."

PlayStation shared the update through its official blog, citing unexpected production issues without offering a specific new release window.

The FlexStrike was originally scheduled to launch on August 6, priced at 199.99 dollars and bundled with a sling carrying case. Pre-orders for the peripheral went live on June 12, but Sony now says the fight stick will arrive at a later, unconfirmed date due to production delays that were not anticipated ahead of launch.

In its update, PlayStation said it is taking extra time to put the finishing touches on the product to ensure the best possible experience for players. The company also apologized for the delay and said it remains committed to bringing the FlexStrike experience to the community once it is ready to launch.

Sony, PlayStation Have No Info on Its Availability

Beyond confirming the delay, Sony has not shared any details on when the FlexStrike might actually launch, Engadget reported. Players who pre-ordered directly through PlayStation's website can check their order status there and should expect further communication regarding their purchase.

Anyone who pre-ordered through a separate retailer has been advised to look out for updates directly from that retailer instead.

Built specifically with competitive players in mind, the FlexStrike features a design suited for tournament travel, with action buttons set on a slight incline and a PlayStation-style touchpad positioned above them.

The stick also includes swappable restrictor gates that let players adjust the shape of its input zone, and it can connect wirelessly through a PlayStation Link USB adapter or via a low-latency wired USB-C connection.

Sony first revealed the accessory in June 2025 under the codename Project Defiant, calling it the company's first wireless fight stick.

Peripheral Should Be Launching Alongside 'MARVEL Tokon'

The FlexStrike's original release date lined up intentionally with "MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls," a 4v4 tag teamfighting game developed by Arc System Works and published by PlayStation.

That plan has now fallen apart, since "MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls" is still on track to release as scheduled on August 6 for PS5 and PC, while the fight stick built specifically for it remains without a firm date.

At launch, the FlexStrike will only be compatible with PS5, with PlayStation planning to bring PC support at a later time.

The peripheral was positioned as one of PlayStation's most notable hardware releases of the year and pairing it with a major new fighting game was seen as a way to boost interest in both products simultaneously.

With that timing disrupted, fans hoping to pick up both together will need to wait for further word from Sony on when the FlexStrike will actually become available.
