Playstation faces harassment and gender discrimination lawsuit

A former IT security analyst at Playstation is suing the company for gender discrimination and wrongful termination, AXIOS  reported Tuesday.

The  lawsuit filed Monday  by former Playstation IT security analyst Emma Majo alleges women at the company in similar positions to their male colleagues did not receive pay, violating the United States Equal Pay Act.

“Sony discriminates against female employees,” Majo said  in the suit. “Including those who are female and those who identify as female, in compensation and promotion and subjects them to a work culture predominated by men.”

Playstation allegedly terminated Majo due to a department closure, though she claims she was not part of that department. She’s now seeking court approval to expand to a class action lawsuit so that she may represent women that have worked at Playstation.

This lawsuit comes amid similar situations in the gaming world, like the  ongoing Activision Blizzard reports  claiming it to be an abusive and sexually discriminatory workplace.

Playstation president and CEO Jim Ryan  vocally disapproved of how publisher Activision Blizzard  responded to the allegations.

Xbox head Phil Spencer  and  Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser  were among other prominent industry figures to speak on the situation at Activision Blizzard.
