Sony announced a new game studio headquartered in Bellevue, WA comprised of veteran developers who have worked on top games like Halo, Destiny, Roblox, League of Legends, and Fortnite.
The LFG in teamLFG means "looking for group," online phrasing for players looking to play with others. Originally spinning out of old-school studio Bungie (the original developers behind Halo and Destiny), teamLFG promises to focus on action-based multiplayer titles.
"We are driven by a mission to create games where players can find friendship, community, and belonging," the team wrote on the PlayStation Blog. "We want our players to feel excited when they log on to discover their teammates already hanging out online."
The announcement promises titles that promote the excitement of logging into game servers and seeing friends and gamer buddies to create new stories built from playing games together. The team also says it wants to build its games alongside its players, making the development process available to gamers via early access playtests.
In a world where Fortnite and Roblox continue to rake in the money, developers and publishers are looking for the next great multiplayer game that people come back to again and again.
"Our first game is a team-based action game that draws inspiration from fighting games, platformers, MOBAs, life sims, and frog-type games," wrote the devs. "Players will inhabit a lighthearted, comedic world set in brand-new, mythic, science-fantasy universe. We can't wait to reveal more."
As noted by Polygon, teamLFG started recruiting devs with diverse backgrounds to develop inclusive worlds back in August 2023.

The company noted at the time that one of its favorite incubation projects was the aforementioned team-based action game set in a science-fantasy universe. Seems like it's even closer to becoming a real title, at least on PlayStation.
