A new Playstation advert has been slammed online for allegedly copying animations from other artists.
The advert, which is for PlayStation Japan, features 16 popular games, including FIFA 20, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Final Fantasy VII Remake.
The games are featured in a music video-style, including some stunning animations.
However, several animators have noticed similarities between the advert and previous animations from other artists.
Ian Jones-Quartey, creator of OK K.O!, tweeted: “It appears that @PlayStation_jp made a promo that swiped some of @porigoshi's animation from Steven Universe The Movie. This looks to be more of a direct trace than an homage.”
Animator Oleg Kositsyn even posted a side-by-side video showing one of his animations next to the ‘stolen’ PlayStation video.
Meanwhile, Okama Sorteos put together a full video , showing just how much of the advert appears to have been lifted from other artist’s work.
Following the backlash, PlayStation Japan has removed the advert from its YouTube channel.
Mirror Online has contacted PlayStation for comment.
