PlayStation 6 Price: How Much Is the Speculated Cost Amidst Shortage Issues?

There are rumors claiming that the PlayStation 6 is coming soon, and now, reports are circling on the potential price tag of the next-generation console from the Japanese entertainment giant.

Speculations claim that the PS6 will continue to be a massive name in the gaming industry, with it getting the top processors and components to deliver improvements to the gaming experience and surpass the PS5 lineup.

PlayStation 6 Price Speculations: How Much Will It Cost?

According to ComicBook Gaming, a new report from NeoGAF claims that making a single PlayStation 6 console will cost Sony around $760 based on the initial breakdown. With this, Sony may sell the PS6 at around $700 to $800 to profit off the next generation console during its release, but this is a significantly minimal revenue for the company.

It was speculated by ComicBook Gaming that it is possible that Sony may bump up the PlayStation 6's pricing to as much as $900 to $1,000 upon its launch "in an effort to further justify the cost."

It is worth noting that this speculated pricing is only the baseline for the console, with its extra controllers and game bundle versions expected to cost more than what was speculated.

PS6 Pricing Amidst Components Shortage Issues

In 2020, the PlayStation 5 released in the market for only $499 for the Standard disc version of the console, and this was way back when the world was experiencing CPU and GPU shortages due to the pandemic and rise of crypto mining.

While that eventually stabilized, further global problems brought back these issues, with the industry now seeing shortages in RAM and CPU and GPU chips because of artificial intelligence. Additionally, the industry is also suffering from the war between the United States, Iran, and Israel, which has driven oil prices to new heights, affecting shipping and imports across many trades worldwide.

From $399 to $499 in 2020, the next PlayStation 6 may reach around $700 to $1,000 which is almost double what it previously cost. While many are pointing to a 2027 release date for the console, following its seven-year cycle, the reports shared that it may arrive around the 2027 to 2029 timeline.
