PlayStation 5: Shameless scam bid to con eager gamers out of money shot down by Gamestop

A shameless scam bid to con eager gamers waiting on the brand new PlayStation 5 out of their bank details has been shot down by Ireland's biggest game shop.

Gamestop Ireland took to social media to quash the scammers' attempts to steal customers' bank and card details.

An example of one of the scam emails was posted, which asked a customer to confirm their pre-order information.

The email says customers should have their card number and security code handy when contacting them over the phone to sort out the phony issue.

The mail goes on to ask for the customer's phone number and home address as well.

Gamestop said: "We have been made aware of some customers being contacted asking for their bank card and details in order to have a PS5 preorder transferred to them.

"This request is not from us and should be deleted."
