PlayStation 5 pre-order customers urged to pay balance or risk missing out

After months of anticipation, the PlayStation 5 will finally go on sale in a matter of weeks.

Many eager fans have already pre-ordered the PS5 ahead of its official UK release on November 19.

However, UK retailer ShopTo has warned that pre-order customers need to pay their balance as soon as possible, or risk missing out.

While the retailer previously took automatic funds from registered cards, customers must now manually pay any outstanding balances.

If you don’t pay the balance on time, your console may then be allocated to the next person in the queue.

ShopTo explained: “Due to fraud protection, we are unable to charge your confirmed for day one pre-order automatically.

"Failure to pay by the 31st October will result in cancellation of your confirmed for day one pre-order, your console will be automatically allocated to the next customer in the queue, and we will be unable to reallocate the console to you.

"Please, DO NOT PRE-PAY for your Pre-Order if it's not confirmed for day one.”

Thankfully, Sony has reassured that the PlayStation 5 will be regularly restocked in the coming months, so you should be able to get your hands on one.

The official release date is November 12, with fans in the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand South Korea able to get their hands on the console on that date.

However, it’s not good news for British PlayStation fans, who will have to wait another week to buy the PS5.

The official UK release date is November 19.

In terms of pricing, the PlayStation 5 is priced at £449.99/ $499.99 / AU$749.95, and the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition is slightly cheaper at $399.99 / £359.99 / AU$749.95.
