It’s tipped to launch next month, and now the PlayStation 5 loading screen may have been leaked online.
Twitter user Sm1LE has shared what he claims is the official start-up screen for the PlayStation 5.
He tweeted a video of the launch screen, along with the caption: “A first look at the Sony PlayStation 5. It is on and loading.”
The video shows the PS5 logo against a swirling turquoise background, which then changes to the Sony logo, before showing a QR code.
A mysterious console and a DualShock controller can also be seen in front of the monitor.
However, questions have been raised about the validity of the console and controller, as well as the launch screen.
The console shown in the video doesn’t appear to be similar to either the V-shaped devkit or the recently leaked X-shaped model.
Meanwhile, eagle-eyed viewers have noticed that the PS5 logo on the launch screen is slightly off-centre, and that the QR code doesn’t seem to work.
One user replied: “Booting less than 1 secound after The beep? Huum idk, seems fake.”
Another added: “Looks the same as the playstation 3 background. Lazy or fake? Disappointing either way.”
And one wrote: “I don't know if it's real but when I pictured it in my head, i thought it would look like this.”
The leak comes shortly after rumours shared on Reddit indicated that Sony could launch PS5 at an even on February 29.
Reddit user PennyOhms spotted that Sony Hall is booked for a ‘private event’ that evening.
They wrote: “Rumoured Venue for PS5 Sony Event closed for "Private Event" on Saturday Feb 29th. Could this be it?”
While previous rumours suggested an earlier launch date of February 5, fans have noticed that Sony does not have any events at Sony Hall that night.
PennyOhms added: “Much later than the Rumoured Feb 5th, but nothing is showing on that day.”
