PlayStation 5 stock details from GAME, John Lewis, Argos and Smyths - updated

It’s the must-have bit of hardware that is impossible to get for many.

Sony’s PlayStation 5 console remains tantalising near but so far and major retailers are still telling customers they are out of stock.

Stocks of the next generation games machine have been dropping at retailers, only to be sold out or snapped up in pre-orders.

This week is no different with major retailers all listing the product as out-of-stock.

No retailer are giving any clear dates, but Smyths does say new stock is due next month.

UPDATE: Below is the latest information from other retailers we tried on Friday, February 16.

Very, which had put some stock up for sale last week, said: “Unfortunately, we have sold out of our PS5 consoles for now. We have more stock coming so keep checking back for our next drop.” It adds that "stock is coming soon".

Smyths says all its PlayStation 5 stock is now allocated with pre-orders being dispatched between February 22 and 28. New stock is expected in "March 21" it says.

John Lewis says it is out of stock, but you can add the product to a ‘wish list’.

Argos says the PS5 is "currently unavailable" but it is working hard to make it available as soon as possible.

Pre-orders were possible back in September ahead of the product’s launch in November, but it has been difficult for many to get their hands on one.

Sony’s CFO Hiroki Totoki said, according to Ars Technica: “It is difficult for us to increase the production of the PlayStation 5 amid the shortage of semiconductors and other components.

“We have not been able to fully meet the high level of demand from customers [but] we continue to do everything in our power to ship as many units as possible to customers who are waiting for a PS5.”
