PlayStation 5 devkit and DualShock 5 controller leaked in new images

There’s still year to go before Sony finally launches the PlayStation 5 , but the development kit may have just been leaked in new images.

Twitter user Alcoholikaust has shared a photo of what it claims are two PlayStation 5 devkits - and the design matches several patent images filed by Sony .

The console looks much like renders created by LetsGoDigital in October, and appears to feature a V-shaped design and several USB ports on the front of the device.

Meanwhile, a controller can also be seen in the leaked images, which is likely to be the DualShock 5.

The controller doesn’t look too dissimilar to the DualShock 4, although it’s likely to feature an in-built microphone in place of the light bar.

Alcoholikaust claims that the photo belongs to a developer, although their identity remains a mystery.

In response to a Twitter user asking whose photo it was, it wrote: “Developer. The devkits have been out there a while this particular developer just didn’t give a f*** apparently.”

Jim Ryan, CEO at Sony Interactive Entertainment, has previously revealed two new features for the PS5 controller.

In a blog, he wrote: “There are two key innovations with the PlayStation 5’s new controller. First, we’re adopting haptic feedback to replace the ‘rumble’ technology found in controllers since the 5th generation of consoles.

“With haptics, you truly feel a broader range of feedback, so crashing into a wall in a race car feels much different than making a tackle on the football field. You can even get a sense for a variety of textures when running through fields of grass or plodding through mud.

“The second innovation is something we call adaptive triggers, which have been incorporated into the trigger buttons (L2/R2). Developers can program the resistance of the triggers so that you feel the tactile sensation of drawing a bow and arrow or accelerating an off-road vehicle through rocky terrain.

“In combination with the haptics, this can produce a powerful experience that better simulates various actions.”
