PlayStation 5 details will be unveiled tomorrow as Sony confirms 'deep dive'

It’s one of the most highly anticipated gaming consoles of the year, and now Sony has confirmed that it will finally reveal details about the PlayStation 5 tomorrow.

The tech giant has confirmed that it’s hosting a ‘deep dive’ into the console at 16:00 GMT tomorrow.

In a tweet announcing the news, it explained: “Tomorrow at 4pm GMT / 5pm CET, PS5 lead system architect Mark Cerny provides a deep dive into PS5’s system architecture and how it will shape the future of games.”

The deep dive will will be posted on PlayStation’s blog tomorrow, and Mirror Online will be covering all the announcements as they happen.

While it’s unlikely that PlayStation will unveil the console itself, we expect to hear further details about the system.

So far, Sony has remained fairly tight-lipped about the PlayStation 5.

However, Jim Ryan, CEO at Sony Interactive Entertainment, has previously revealed two key features for the PlayStation 5 controller.

In a blog last year, he explained: “There are two key innovations with the PlayStation 5’s new controller.

“First, we’re adopting haptic feedback to replace the “rumble” technology found in controllers since the 5th generation of consoles.

“With haptics, you truly feel a broader range of feedback, so crashing into a wall in a race car feels much different than making a tackle on the football field. You can even get a sense for a variety of textures when running through fields of grass or plodding through mud.

“The second innovation is something we call adaptive triggers, which have been incorporated into the trigger buttons (L2/R2).

"Developers can program the resistance of the triggers so that you feel the tactile sensation of drawing a bow and arrow or accelerating an off-road vehicle through rocky terrain. In combination with the haptics, this can produce a powerful experience that better simulates various actions.

“Game creators have started to receive early versions of the new controller, and we can’t wait to see where their imagination goes with these new features at their disposal.”

Meanwhile, Mr Ryan added that the full console reveal will take place in ‘Holiday 2020’, suggesting there’s still a while to wait.
