From a romantic beach to a snowy mountain, many people dream of being proposed to against stunning backdrops.
But it seems that many gamers are taking a rather unusual approach, taking the launch of the PlayStation 5 as the perfect opportunity to pop the question.
Several photos have been posted to Reddit following the PS5 launch this week, showing the proposals in action.
User reddit_hayden posted a photo of an engagement ring beside his PS5, writing: “My gf was super excited that I was able to get a PS5 for us. Little does she know, there’s more in store.”
Another user, benvegan, proposed to his partner on PS5 release day in New Zealand last week.
He posted a photo, writing: “made a fake game case, and when I got home from picking up our PS5 goodies at a midnight launch here in NZ, I handed her the pile of games with this in the mix. The ring was inside.”
And user Zachavelii posted a photo of the ring on his fiancee’s hand beside his PS5, writing: “Christmas came early for me and my (now) fiancé.”
The console went on sale in the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea last week, but finally hit UK shelves yesterday morning.
Several eager fans pre-ordered their console, and deliveries are starting to arrive already.
One customer shared a photo on Twitter, writing: “It’s arrived finally (and safely!) in my hands! It’s PS5’s UK launch day today!”
Another added: “The next generation has arrived!”
And one posted a short video of their PS5, writing: “Finally got my hands on her. PlayStation 5.”
