PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X 'will go head-to-head' at upcoming tech event

They’re two of the most highly anticipated gaming consoles of 2020, and now it seems that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are set to go head-to-head at an upcoming tech event.

The two consoles are both set to appear on September 24 at the Tokyo Game Show 2020, according to the event’s organisers, CESA.

The PS5 and Xbox Series X will likely have been fully revealed before that date, but this will probably be the first event where the console will physically go head-to-head.

While the Tokyo Game Show doesn’t explicitly state that the two consoles will feature, a listing on its website heavily hints at it.

The website explains: “Featuring novel game consoles for the next generation, TGS2020 is sure to attract even more attention from around the world.”

The news comes shortly after Sony dropped a major hint that the PS5 could be unveiled this month.

Speaking last week, Hiroki Totoki, Sony’s CFO, revealed that Sony is following the same release timeline as that of previous PlayStation consoles.

This indicates a February unveiling, and a November release date.

According to MotleyFool, he said: “It's very difficult to really discuss this timing-wise, but as of today, we will provide the guidance at a time period, which is comparable to the past.

"So we will not change the time schedule.”
