After months of anticipation, Sony may finally give PlayStation fans around the world a glimpse at the PlayStation 5 console tonight.
Sony is hosting an event at 21:00 BST tonight, where it will reveal the first games to be available for the upcoming PlayStation 5.
The event could also be used to officially reveal the PS5's hardware for the first time, although Sony is yet to confirm this.
While Sony has remained tight-lipped about the PS5 pricing, a new listing has appeared on Amazon, indicating the console won’t be cheap.
A placeholder listing for a 2TB variant of the PS5 was spotted on the Amazon UK website, and suggests that console will cost £599.99.
The screenshot of the listing was posted to Twitter by user Wario64.
They wrote: “PlayStation 5 2TB placeholder listing on Amazon UK says it’s £599.99. No link posted to Amazon but someone was able to order it apparently.”
While the listing may raise concerns for PlayStation fans, Amazon claims that it was ‘an error’.
Speaking to IGN, an Amazon UK spokesperson said: ”This was an error. [It] was priced as a dummy product with a dummy price.”
Despite this, many fans replied to Wario64, raising their concerns about the listing price.
One user replied: “That's more than $750 USD. If this is the price they're out of their minds.”
Another added: “God if it’s $600 i might pass on this.”
However, one user suggested that the high price is part of Sony’s marketing tactics.
They said: “Now the price can only go down and people can be positively surprised.”
