Playlist for the Dead by Michelle Falkoff - review

Michelle Falkoff, Playlist for the Dead

This book is one I have seen flying around the book community since it was released, with mixed reviews following closely behind. This made me want to read it for myself so I was able to make my own judgement. I was quite pleased with how it turned out and it was actually an enjoyable read.

The book follows a boy called Sam who finds his best friend, Hayden, dead, with only a playlist of songs to answer the questions he may have towards what might have caused Hayden to go as far as he did.

It is a heartwarming story which will play on the heartstrings as we watch Sam try to adjust to a life without his best friend around.

On this journey, Sam meets a girl who knew Hayden but whom he had never known about and doesn't know how they would have known each other. As they become closer, we learn more about both sides and their friendships with Hayden and bit by bit they learn more about his death and the lead up to it.

The mystery within the story is well put together and makes for a more intriguing read which pulls you in different directions as well as letting you into the mind of the bullied.

This debut is not one to miss!
