Playing for keeps - The real life love affair between Brice Samba and devoted Nottingham Forest fans

It hasn’t taken Brice Samba long to become a fans’ favourite at Nottingham Forest.

The goalkeeper arrived at the City Ground from Caen in the summer and has quickly endeared himself to the Reds faithful.

It seems as though the feeling is mutual, too.

A photo the 25-year-old posted on social media has gone down a storm with Forest supporters, who have been showing the shot-stopper some love.

Samba shared a picture of himself from last weekend’s clash with the Reds’ arch-rivals Derby County, standing in front of the City Ground crowd and surrounded by red smoke. He used the caption: “RED ARMY.”

And with the summer signing having impressed on the field during his time at the club, fans took the opportunity to sing Samba’s praises.

The shot-stopper has now taken over from Manchester City loanee Arijanet Muric as first-choice between the posts and has made 13 appearances so far this season.

He has put in some handy performances, too, making some fine saves and keeping six clean-sheets in all competitions - most recently against the Rams as Sabri Lamouchi’s men triumphed 1-0.

Here’s what supporters have been saying in response to Samba’s tweet.
