Playground revamps at two Lake Macquarie parks

UPGRADE: The playground in Baxter Park at Nords Wharf will be upgraded with new swings, climbing equipment and rockers set to be installed.

TWO Lake Macquarie suburbs are set for park upgrades in the latest round of the council's playground renewals program.

Work will start next month on revamping playgrounds in Baxter Park at Nords Wharf and Lakelands Park.

The playgrounds will feature a range of equipment suitable for all ages including swings, climbing nets, balance beams and spinners.

"Quality play opportunities are really important for children's development, particularly their physical health and wellbeing," the council's asset manager Brendan Callander said.

"Each year, council aims to renew up to four playgrounds to ensure the city continues to offer safe and engaging play spaces for children and families."

Work at Baxter Park will start in September and be completed by October. The council will then shift its attention to Lakelands Park, which is expected to be completed by November.

Residents are encouraged to use nearby playgrounds during construction.
