Playground Festival organisers confirm plans for September event set to go ahead

Playground Festival plans are all go for this September and organisers are working closely with the council to ensure the event is as safe as possible.

Following the easing of COVID restrictions in Scotland to level zero, organisers say they couldn’t be more excited to have a date to dance with everyone.

The event is set to take place in Glasgow's Rouken Glen from the 24th till the 26th, while bosses confirmed they are expanding the festival site.

In an official statement they said: "We are working closely with East Renfrewshire Council to plan the safest possible event for our guests, staff and local community and have total confidence that Playground Festival will be going ahead as normal as possible.

"As well as confirming some of the world’s most incredible artists and DJs who will be performing across 3 amazing stages, we have also increased the festival site to ensure more space to move, more toilets and bigger bars."

In addition to the music offering there will also be plenty of grub on offer.

They said: "We can’t wait to introduce your tastebuds to our amazing craft beer & food truck village and family favourites Mini Manoeuvres will also be in attendance.

"With increased space comes our new VIP area, a new chill-out area (the aptly named Chill Hill), exciting pop-up cocktail & gin bars and much more to be revealed across the weekend. Stay tuned for details.

The statement added: "The health and well-being of everyone at the festival and in the surrounding communities will always be our absolute priority and we want everyone who attends Playground Festival to be as safe as possible.

"That is why we will be introducing extra sanitising stations and other protective safety measures onsite to provide the safest experience possible. A detailed step by step guide will be available in the next few weeks on our website.

"As a small and independent boutique festival, we would just like to take this opportunity to say a massive THANK YOU!

"Thank you for your patience, thank you for caring, thank you for keeping your ticket from 2020 and rolling over to 2021, thank you to all our staff and crew, and thank you to the NHS, we couldn’t have got this far without you.

"We can’t wait to party with you all!"
