Playground Festival headliner: Lauryn Hill revealed to top Saturday's lineup

Lauryn Hill has been revealed as the latest headlining act for this summer's Playground Festival.

It's the multi-platinum R&B singer's only Scottish show this year, topping the bill on the Saturday edition of the Rouken Glen Park event over the weekend August 2-4.

She’ll be joining previously announced headliners Groove Armada , who perform on the Friday and will be followed by Hot Chip on Sunday night.

Art rockers Django Django and Swedish electronic outfit Little Dragon have also been added tp the Sunday lineup.

Playground is fusing an array of musical genres including R&B, electronica, alternative, art rock and indie electronica. It’s a boundary-blurring weekend for those who, like us, just "love good music of all kinds."

Organisers describe is it as "This is a party for those who want to go wild at the front, those who want to lounge on the grass and soak up the sounds, and everyone in between."

If that's not enough, much-loved Big Feed Street Food Market will be there to fuel festival-goers – serving up scran from their artisan trucks and premium drinks from their  cocktail and craft beer bars.

Lauryn Hill rose to prominence as the lone female member of The Fugees, one of the biggest selling R&B acts around the world with album sales of over 20 million.

After leaving The Fugees, her solo career soared when The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill was released 20 years ago, earning her five Grammy Awards and leaving a beautifully indelible mark in music history.

General release tickets start from £45 per day or £130 for a full ticket and can be purchased here.
