Playground Festival 2020 rescheduled to next year

This year's Playground Festival has been rescheduled to next year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Organisers have confirmed the news, saying they "can no longer safely deliver the festival you deserve" adding that they are "devastated" by the decision.

The festival will now take place at Rouken Glen Park next summer on  Friday July 30, Saturday July 31 and Sunday Aug 21 2021.

A statement from the organisers reads: "We have been working tirelessly to try and keep Playground 2020 on this year’s festival calendar, however due to the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic we can no longer safely deliver the festival you deserve. We are devastated and understand that you will be too. However, this is not just the smart choice, it’s the only choice.

"Therefore, with heavy hearts, we have taken the only decision we could - to put your safety and that of our festival staff, artists and local community first. Your safety is paramount for us and with the unpredictability surrounding the easing of restrictions and how this will impact on the spread of the virus, we cannot and will not risk the health of our festival family."

Playground Festival has said that the majority of the 2020 line up will return for 2021, however it has not yet been confirmed which acts this includes.

Organisers have also said they have "some amazing new additions to [their] line-up which [they] will announce very shortly".

All tickets for the 2020 festival will remain valid for next year's event with the festival pledging to upgrade all existing day tickets to a full weekend ticket, and all existing full weekend tickets to weekend VIP.

The festival statement continued: "If you can’t make it or simply want a refund then these will be made available from the point of purchase. Please be patient - this is an unprecedented situation and things are constantly changing but we will ensure anyone who wants a refund will receive it.

"We are a family, and like all good ones, we stick together. Please stay safe, look after each other, and stay tuned to your inbox and our social channels for further updates on Playground 2021."
