Playground 2019 - here's the weather forecast for Glasgow's newest music festival

Glasgow's newest festival kicks off tomorrow.

The first ever Playground is taking place over the next three days at Rouken Glen Park, featuring a cracking line-up of stars, including Groove Armada, Lauryn Hill and Hot Chip.

The south side fest runs Friday to Sunday (August 2-4) promising a “boundary-blurring weekend” for music lovers of all genres - but will the weather be as hot as the acts set to perform?

In short, kind of.

The weather forecast for the weekend, according to the Met Office, is something of a mixed bag.

Friday looks set to be the best of the lot, say the experts, as despite a cloudy afternoon and some light showers being expected, it'll be sunny in the evening, from around 6pm - 10pm, with average temperatures of 23C.

The Met Office say: "A bright day with some good spells of sunshine, although a rather cloudy start around.

"Once again, scattered showers develop for the afternoon. Maximum temperature 23 °C."

But, as we get into Saturday and Sunday, things are set to get a bit more unsettled, with rain predicted, though it's still set to be warm.

The forecast reads: "Rather unsettled this weekend and into Monday with showers or longer spells of occasionally heavy and thundery rain. With light winds it will still feel quite warm in any sunshine."

The gates open at 4pm on Friday and 2pm Saturday and Sunday for Playground 2019.

Remember to pack your bags for all conditions but we know you're a hardy lot, Glasgow, a wee bit of wet weather never stopped you doing anything!
