In celebration of its 100th season, the NFL is encouraging clubs around the league to give back to their communities. This week, the Seahawks did just that around the Seattle area.
On Friday, current and former Seahawks players spent time volunteering at a number of local organizations, including Plymouth Housing, Seattle Public Schools, YWCA Seattle and the Nisei Veterans Committee.
The Seahawks’ first-round pick, defensive end L.J. Collier, was in attendance at the Nisei Veterans Memorial Hall, which supports the legacy of Japanese-Americans and the broader community. Players at the hall helped with landscaping and cleaning and organizing of the museum.
Next up, the Seahawks made a stop at Angeline’s Day Center for Women, a part of the YWCA of Seattle, King and Snohomish counties.
A group of current and former Seahawks, including rookie defensive back Ugo Amadi, also spent time at Plymouth Housing for the homeless, serving meals and playing games with the residents.
Finally, the squad dropped in at Aki Kurose Middle School in Seattle’s Rainier Valley.
