Crossplay isn’t anything new for the EA FC franchise; it’s been here for a long time. But this EA Sports FC 26 has had major complaints with crossplay. We are all aware of how unoptimized EA FC 26 is, and it’s even worse in online modes.
But things get worse when you play with Cross-play “On”, the game feels laggier, delayed, and overall has poor latency. And, it is usually the console players who suffer.
EA claims that turning Crossplay on has various advantages. You get faster matchmaking, better skill-based matchmaking, improved rank distribution, and lower ping. While that may be true for PC players, it’s certainly not for console gamers. Players have come out complaining that when they play against PC players, the matches feel laggy and delayed. This makes it nearly impossible to win against a PC player.
Fans Complain Over Latency Issues In Crossplay

According to EA, turning crossplay on will make the FC experience better. But that has not been the case. These complaints are mainly coming from console players who claim that gameplay on PC is more optimized and smoother compared to console. This gives PC players an unfair advantage over console players. Not to mention, there is also a serious hacker problem on PC, according to some players.
The problem is that if players don’t turn on Crossplay, they have to face long queue times and often get matched with higher-skilled players or get connected to high-ping servers. But if they do turn it on, they have to deal with latency and cheaters.
EA is also actively telling players to turn on crossplay through pop-ups in-game. Players argue that the reason why EA is pushing crossplay is that the player count is down, and it’s easier to matchmake when you have a larger pool of players.
But if players listen to that, they have to suffer with high ping, which doesn’t make sense. If you have more players in the pool, it should be easier to get paired up against someone who plays on the same servers as yours, but that’s not the case. A Reddit comment under a thread talking about this issue explained it better:
I guess it says better ping because without cross play there’s less players and the longer you queue the more they broaden the matchmaking region. Basically cross play on equal faster queue times, which means you’ll find less matches with higher ping
Overall, this is a serious issue with the game that needs to be addressed as soon as possible. Because console players are suffering regardless of whether they turn on Crossplay or not.
