Players meeting has helped spark Notts County surge says assistant boss Neil Cox

Notts County's assistant manager Neil Cox believes a players-only meeting has helped spark their rise up the National League table.

The Magpies have won their last three league games which has catapulted them into the race for the top seven.

It has been a stunning turnaround from Neal Ardley's side who had not won a league game since October before they hammered Halifax 4-2 just before Christmas.

And Cox revealed how the player held their own summit to try to spark an upturn in fortunes and says they have reaped the rewards.

“The players had  a little meeting among themselves in which they expected more off each other,” he said.

“I don’t really know much about it, but it was a general chat in the dressing room and it seems to have gone on from there.

“It’s not just about what the manager wants or what I want, it’s what the boys want.

“They want to be successful and they want to push on.

“Lately it’s happening. They want to work harder, do that bit extra and it’s been good too see.”
