'Players are waiting for Barcelona' Airdrie DoF lifts the lid on the summer transfer window

Airdrieonians director of football Stuart Millar admits some players are waiting for a move to La Liga giants rather than the lower leagues.

The SPFL Lower League Football Show has a chat with the League One chief this week as he talks to Colin Paterson and Mark Pirie for the The Back Page podcast.

The Diamonds DoF Millar talks about the highs and lows of the transfer window at this stage in the season as he recruits for Ian Murray's title hopes.

He told the pod: "The most difficult time is right at the very start of the close season.

"With respect, players are waiting for Barcelona and Real Madrid to come in. It's not just the players, but your agents are waiting for Barcelona and Real Madrid.

"For someone that has been released from East Fife that's obviously not going to happen. What happens is when they realise the La Liga giants are coming in they tend to reduce their demands a wee bit."
