'Players are precious' - Sky pundit claims Leeds United are crumbling ahead of Bristol City contest

Matt Murray says Leeds United are starting to feel the pressure of missing out on promotion last season.

The Whites face Bristol City on Saturday knowing a defeat could well see them drop from second place, with the Robins just three points behind them in seventh.

It is a far cry from when Marcelo Bielsa's side had an 11-point gap over third place in December, and the Robins will be keen to make sure they do not get back on track on Saturday.

The Whites' season is a mirror of last year, when they crashed out of the promotion places before losing in the play-offs to Derby County and, speaking on the Debate, Murray says there seems to be a hangover affect from their failures of previous years.

"I think it has to be in there a bit," he said..

"You can think of seasons where I was at Wolves and we lost out to West Brom, the next year we ended up going through the play-offs and we used that hurt to really drive us on.

"Leeds have been in a fantastic position, hey were last season.

"West Brom had a wobble too but regrouped, I think they had a stronger window with some good signing.

"For Leeds, I they've brought in Augustin but they need to get him up to speed as he's not playing yet.

"The fact they can drop out of it will be on their minds, it will be on their fans' mind and the other fans are singing it.

"Bielsa has to get them back on track."

Former Liverpool defender Phil Babb agreed and said the pressure was on Bielsa to turn things around.

He said: "I agree, players are very precious, they'll be dwelling on what happened last season.

"I'm sure the manager will have some subliminal messages, saying don't think about it and carry on.

"But he's sewing the seed."
