Players and fans left 'bloodied and bruised' after mass brawl at rugby match

Reports of a shocking 20-man brawl have emerged from a club rugby match in New Zealand.

Players and supporters were left 'bloodied and bruised' according to Stuff.co.nz after a fight broke out between around 20 people.

An altercation is said to have taken place during the match between Suburbs and Pakuranga, resulting in a player from either side being sent off.

Things then spilled over after the final whistle, with supporters becoming involved and multiple punches being thrown, according to the reports.

Police responded to multiple reports of a 'disorder incident' but by the time they arrived, everyone had left.

It comes on the same day as a man in his 20s was flown to hospital in Waikato Hospital after suffering serious injuries at a different local rugby match.

The New Zealand Herald report St John Ambulance officers tended to a stricken player at the Ōtorohanga Sports Club on Saturday before he was flown to hospital by a Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

The injuries, which were described as serious, were sustained in an under 85kg game between Blue Bull and Fraser Tech.
